How It Works
Transfer Credit Process
Apply for Admission
Submit your application through the MyMUC portal. Request official transcripts be sent directly from your previous institution(s) to the MUC Registrar's Office.
Submit Official Transcripts
Official transcripts must be sent directly from all previous post-secondary institutions. Transcripts submitted by the student are not accepted for credit evaluation.
Credit Evaluation
The Registrar's Office, in consultation with the relevant Faculty, evaluates your transcripts. Evaluations are typically completed within 4–6 weeks of receiving complete documentation.
Receive Transfer Credit Assessment
You will receive a formal Transfer Credit Assessment letter indicating which courses have been recognized and whether they fulfill specific programme requirements.
Appeal if Necessary
If you disagree with a transfer credit decision, you may appeal to the Dean of the relevant Faculty within 30 days of receiving your assessment.
What We Accept
Eligible Credit Types
Canadian University Credits
Grade C / 60% minimumCredits from any AUCC/Universities Canada member institution are reviewed for transfer. Courses with a grade of C (60%) or higher are generally eligible.
Canadian College Diplomas
Case-by-case evaluationCollege diploma courses may transfer as elective credits or, in some cases, as direct course equivalencies, particularly for technical and career-focused programmes.
International University Credits
Official translation requiredCredits from internationally recognized institutions are assessed using the World Education Services (WES) framework and other equivalency tools.
Advanced Placement (AP)
Score of 4 or 5 requiredAP exam scores of 4 or 5 are eligible for transfer credit consideration. Scores of 3 may be considered at Faculty discretion.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
HL score of 5+ requiredIB Higher Level (HL) courses with a score of 5 or higher are eligible for transfer credit. Standard Level (SL) courses are evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)
Portfolio review requiredCredit may be awarded for verified professional experience, industry certifications, military training, or documented non-formal learning through the MUC Prior Learning Assessment process.
Credit Limits
Maximum Transferable Credits
MUC requires that a minimum portion of each programme be completed at MUC to ensure the quality and integrity of our credentials. Transfer credits are capped accordingly.

At least 30 credit hours for any undergraduate degree, and the final year of study, must be completed at MUC.
Non-Traditional Learning
Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)
If you have extensive professional experience, industry certifications, or other non-traditional learning that aligns with MUC course objectives, you may be eligible to receive academic credit through our Prior Learning Assessment process.
Challenge Examinations
Demonstrate knowledge of a specific course through a comprehensive examination. Available for select undergraduate courses only. A non-refundable challenge fee applies.
Portfolio Assessment
Submit a portfolio of work, certifications, and documented professional experience for faculty review. Used primarily for technical and professional programmes.
RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)
MUC's dedicated RPL portal allows applicants to formally submit prior learning evidence across structured competency categories. Decisions are made by Faculty Committees.

MUC operates a dedicated Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Portal where applicants can formally submit prior learning evidence, track their assessment status, and communicate with faculty evaluators.

Required Documents
- Official transcripts from all previous post-secondary institutions (sent directly from the institution)
- Course descriptions or syllabi for courses you are requesting equivalency consideration for
- Proof of completion (graduation certificate or letter of standing if transcript does not show degree completion)
- For international institutions: official English translation of all documents (certified translator required)
- For PLA/RPL: professional resume, portfolio of work, industry certifications, and/or reference letters
- For AP/IB credits: official score reports sent from College Board or IBO directly to MUC
